Red 6

During a time when I had little space to paint, I decided to experiment with digital media. To my surprise, I found that I could create painterly effects with pixels. I was intrigued. Using Adobe Illustrator and it's tools, I found that I could manipulate line, shape and color to create new imagery. Especially exciting for me were the added elements of light and transparency that are possible with this media.

The images in the Red and Blue Movements galleries represent a series in which I explored change and possibility through time. Using the common element of a flower motif, I examined the process of change from a graphic toward a three dimensional image. I used a narrow range of color in each series, focusing on the subtilty of movement through color and value.
